Student privacy
Last updated 1 October 2026. An addendum to theprivacy policy anddata handling, for theToddle Enhancement Extension.
The short version. Staff use the extension; students do not. What it shows about a student is read from Toddle in the teacher's own browser, for that teacher, and Nyuchi never collects, stores or receives it.
Who uses it
The extension is for school staff, in Toddle's staff web app. It is not designed for, offered to or used by students, and children do not use it. Licences are sold to teachers and schools.
What happens to student data
- It is read from Toddle, with the teacher's own session, only for the teacher at the screen and only what their account can already see.
- It is processed in that teacher's browser, on that device, and nowhere else.
- It is not stored: answers are held in the page's memory for a few minutes and are gone when the tab closes.
- It is not transmitted to Nyuchi or to anyone else. The extension's only connections outside Toddle are the opt-in feedback form, which carries only what the teacher types, and, while a licence is entered, a daily check for cancelled keys, which sends no data.
- Nothing is written back to Toddle.
The school stays in control of its students' data through Toddle, exactly as before: who can see what is still decided by the school's Toddle permissions.
FERPA
Because no student data is collected, stored or transmitted by Nyuchi, Nyuchi does not receive students' education records from the extension. The records stay in Toddle, viewed by school staff in their own browsers.
COPPA
Nyuchi does not collect personal information from children. The extension is not used by children, and the student information it shows to staff is not collected by Nyuchi.
GDPR, UK GDPR and similar laws
The school remains the controller of its student data, and Toddle its processor. Nyuchi receives none of that data from the extension. Seedata handling for what Nyuchi does hold, about purchasers and people who send feedback.
Data processing agreements
Some schools are required to have an agreement in place with every provider of software used with student data, for example under New York Education Law §2-d. A data processing agreement is available on request fromprivacy@nyuchi.com. Whether your school needs one is for your school and its advisers to decide.
