Privacy policy

The short version. The extension reads your Toddle gradebook inside your own browser and sends it nowhere. There is no server, no account and no analytics — buying a licence does not change that, because your key is checked on your own machine. We do hold your email address if you bought something, the way any shop does. This website asks before it measures anything and lets you take all, some or none of it; the extension measures nothing at all, and never will.

The extension

Each of the following is a statement about how the software is built, not a promise about how we intend to behave. They can be checked against the extension itself.

It runs only on Toddle.: The extension is declared against https://web.toddleapp.com only. It has no access to any other website, and takes no action anywhere else.
It reads; it does not write.: It reads gradebook data through Toddle's own interface, reusing the session you are already signed in with. Write operations are blocked outright rather than merely avoided, so it cannot change your gradebook even by accident.
It never sees your password.: Authentication stays inside Toddle's own page. The part of the extension that draws the interface cannot read the authentication token, by design.
Nothing is transmitted to us, or to anyone.: There is no server, no account, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising and no remote code. No student data, no teacher data and no school data leaves your browser.
The only things stored are a preference and your licence key.: Whether you have turned the flag-hiding switch on, and the licence key if you have bought one. Both are stored in your own browser and neither is sent anywhere.
Your licence is checked on your machine, not by asking us.: A licence key is a signed statement that the extension verifies locally. Activating one contacts nothing, which is why it works without a connection — and why buying a licence does not start the extension talking to us.
Exports are local.: The CSV export is generated in your browser and saved by your browser, to wherever your downloads go. It does not pass through any service of ours.

Are you a processor of our students' data?

No. A data processor receives personal data and does something with it on the controller's behalf. We receive none: the extension reads what your browser has already loaded from Toddle, renders it differently on that same screen, and transmits nothing. Your school remains the controller of its data, and Toddle remains its processor, exactly as before the extension was installed.

If your data protection officer would like that in writing against a specific framework, or wants to review the code before approving it, write to us — we would rather answer the question properly than have you take a web page's word for it.

This website

It is a set of static pages served by Vercel. Vercel processes the request in order to serve it and keeps operational logs, as any host must.

Your choices, and what they control

The first time you visit, a banner asks. Nothing optional is switched on until you switch it on, and you can take all of it, some of it, or none. Ignoring the banner leaves you exactly where refusing does.

Strictly necessary · always on

Remembers your light or dark theme, and remembers this choice so you are not asked again. Nothing here is shared with anyone.

Two values in your own browser's storage. No cookies, no third party.

Analytics

Lets us see which pages are read, so we know what is worth writing. Declining changes nothing about how the site works.

Google Analytics. Sets cookies and records the pages you view, your approximate location and your device.

Support messenger

The chat window for asking us a question. Off unless you want it — and you can still email us either way.

Intercom. Loads when you open the chat, sets its own cookies, and can see which pages you have open while you use it.

Changing your mind costs one press.Cookie choices at the bottom of any page reopens the panel with your current answers, and withdrawing is as easy as agreeing was. We keep a record of what you chose and when, because the law puts the burden of showing that on us rather than on you — it is stored in your own browser, alongside the choice itself.

This is written to satisfy the three regimes that actually apply to our readers:UK and EU GDPR, Zimbabwe'sData Protection Act (Chapter 11:12), and Singapore's PDPA. They differ in detail and agree on the substance, so one approach serves all three: nothing optional before you ask for it, each purpose chosen separately, refusal as easy as agreement, withdrawal at any time, and a record we can produce.

One detail we would rather state than have you discover. While consent is denied, Google's tag is still on the page and still contacts Google, without cookies and without identifying you — that is how Google's consent mechanism is built. So "no cookies until you agree" is exactly true; "no contact with Google until you agree" would not be, and we are not going to claim it.

None of that is true of the extension. It contains no analytics and sends nothing anywhere. This is the website measuring the website. If the distinction matters to you — and for anyone assessing the software for a school, it is the part that matters — the extension section above is the one to read.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google and Google sees your IP address in doing so.

The support messenger is opt-in. There is a Support button in the corner of every page. Until you press it Intercom loads nothing and sets no cookie of its own — the analytics above is separate, and arrives without being asked. Press it and the messenger loads fromIntercom, which at that point sets its own cookies, can see which pages you have open while you use it, and holds the conversation on our behalf so we can answer you. We chose to load it on demand rather than on arrival precisely so that reading this site costs you nothing.

If you buy a licence

This is the one place we hold personal data about you, and it is worth being exact about it, because it is easy to confuse with what the extension does.

We hold your email address and your order.We need them to issue your key, to let you renew, and to give you an invoice.
Your payment goes to Paynow, not to us. We never see your card or mobile money details. Our shop runs on Shopify, so Shopify processes the order on our behalf.
Your key contains your email. That is how a key is tied to a person. It is stored in your own browser and checked there — the extension does not send it to us or to anyone else.
We do not market to you off the back of it.Buying a licence does not put you on a mailing list.

We keep order records for as long as tax law requires us to, and no longer for any other purpose.

Email

If you email us we keep the email, because that is what email is. We use it to answer you and to keep a record of support requests. Support runs onIntercom, so Intercom processes those conversations on our behalf. We do not add you to a marketing list off the back of a support question.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data we hold about you. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is correspondence you have sent us. Write tosupport@nyuchi.com and we will act on it.

Changes

If what the software does with data changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. A change that widened what we collect would be announced, not slipped in.
